Adrak Amla Lemon Shot | Ginger Gooseberry Lemon Shot

Appa loves Nelikai | Amla | Gooseberry. During winters when we get fresh Amla and Ginger...he is sure to buy these to make the yearly quota of this AAL Shot concentrate. On many a day he prefers to have this in the late afternoon along with luke warm water.

Appa used to have a constant cough which used to bother him and no medicine was giving complete relief. That's when I concocted this for my sweetie pie and it has become a yearly ritual of making this and stocking it!

This is high on Vitamin C and therapeutic value.

INGREDIENTS

500 gms  Adrak | Ginger
500 gms Amla | Gooseberry
6 Lemons
1 tblsp Dalchini | Cinnamon Powder
1 tsp Elaichi | Cardamom Powder
5 tblsp Shahad | Honey

METHOD

  • Wash Adrak, Amla and Lemons. Dry them on a kitchen towel.
  • Peel the Adrak and extract its juice. I used Philips Juicer HR1858. You can also use any mixie to do so with the added step of gently straining them thru a fine muslin cloth.
  • Cut the Amla into quarters and remove the seed. Extract the amla juice as mentioned above for the adrak.
  • Extract the juice of the lemons and keep aside. Keep the rind to make Lemon Adrak Chilli Pickle.
  • Mix the adrak juice and amla juice along with cinnamon powder. Bring this to a boil and then keep the flame on low and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Then switch off the gas.
  • While its hot, add the honey and mix well. You may add additional honey as per your taste. This is like a concentrate so we will dilute it while consuming.
  • When this concentrate comes to room temperature, stir the lemon juice into it.
  • Mix the Elaichi powder.
  • The ratio of water to add to the concentrate is 1 part of concentrate : 10 parts of water.
  • In case you want a bit stronger increase the proportion of the concentrate.
  • This can be stored for upto 2 yrs, under refrigeration.
  • This can be served hot or cold.
The benefits of ginger, amla, honey, cinnamon and lemon - all in one - in just one shot- the AAL Shot! You can also substitute water with plain soda and enjoy this Shot. Hope you love this. Do try this and let us know about your experience.

We have used:
1. Under the Mango Tree's Wild Forest Honey
2. Go4Fresh's Organic Lemon

Note:
There will be residue on the bottom of the concentrate  bottle, how much ever well you strain it..so each time you want to have this, just give the bottle a good shake and then use.
